It’s that time of the month for the reminder for the next Malton Networking meeting. Last month we all had a 60 second slot each and it seemed to prompt people into talking to other members about the products and services they offer. So as it was a success last time I thought we would go for it again, so prepare a 60 second slot about your business and what your best customer would be.
The next networking event will be held again at The Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, YO17 7EG on Friday 7th January 2011 between 12 noon – 2pm. As before it will be a chance for everyone to get to know each other and generally network. Remember your business cards!! Also this month we are going to be upstairs in the board room.
The only cost for this meeting will be £10 per person and I will collect the money on arrival, this is a contribution for the rent of the room and the food. Please let me know if you are coming and bringing other people, so that I can arrange numbers for the tea, coffee and food.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me on 01653 692292 or if you would like to come simply reply to this email before Thursday 6th January 2011, so that I can arrange numbers with The Old Lodge. If you know of anyone else who might be interested please feel free to ask them, but do let me know for numbers.
I look forward to seeing you at the networking meeting.
We are also looking at getting the papers interested in us for the February meeting which will be on the 4th so any input and support over the next two meeting would be beneficial for everyone. As more people networking is potentially more business for all of us.
Kind Regards

Humber Expo will attract hundreds & help local organisations grow
Members of the Humber region's business community are being encouraged to attend a brand new conference, which is aimed at helping local organisations to grow and prosper.
The Humber Expo 2010 – which will run from 9am to 4pm and for which entry is free – is the brainchild of Richard Moorhouse, business manager at The Freedom Centre, a thriving community and events venue in Preston Road, east Hull.
Having attended countless business expos and conferences himself in the past, he saw the potential of launching a Humber-wide networking and support event for business people, which would be about far more than simply selling products and services.
That's why hundreds of delegates are set to converge on The Freedom Centre, on Wednesday, November 3, to take advantage of the genuine economic advice that will be available from the 40 exhibitors and other features on the day.
The focal point of the event will be the keynote speakers that can be seen throughout the day, as well as speed networking seesions:
Guest speaker - Lisa Clifford, a master practitioner of neuro linguistic programming and hypnosis, trained by Paul McKenna and Richard Bandler.
Guest speaker - Andrew Chubb, executive headteacher at Archbishop Sentamu Academy, which is one of 17 schools in Hull being reconstructed and remodelled as part of Hull's £465m Building Schools for the Future programme.
Guest speaker - Jon Hilton, a former East Yorkshire soldier who now runs his own health and safety training business called Pulse Rate Training, will be telling his inspirational story.
Guest speaker – Michelle Vicker, business advisor for HM Revenue and Customs, with handy hints on self employment.
Two free speed networking sessions - taking place at 11am and 2pm, with a free lunch provided for all those who take part*.
"I am confident that the event is going to be a huge hit in its first year," said Mr Moorhouse. "The response we have had from both exhibitors and delegates has already been overwhelming.
The event's principal partner is Grow, an employment-related project commissioned by Hull City Council and its strategic partners. Grow partners are able to offer practical help to local businesses in the Hull area to ensure employers can retain existing staff and minimise any redundancies through the recession, so that as many people as possible stay in work. Expert advice and support is also available, at no cost to the employer, to local employers to improve business resilience and protect jobs in the future.
In addition, the event is being supported by Cobus, Prontaprint, Business Link, and the venue itself, The Freedom Centre.

Pocktoberfest Beer Festival in October Sponsorship Opportunities
Just got a note from Sally steadman, sounds interesting ..... get the full story
Every year I and a few volunteers from Round Table organise Pocktoberfest in Pocklington. This is a professionally run event and is always held on the first weekend of October and is a ‘nod’ to the Oktoberfest held at the same time in Munich, Germany. Pocktoberfest is a CHARITY beer festival event that raises money for local charities and worthy causes. It has become over the last few years one of Pocklington’s premier events and is extremely well supported by local people and local businesses. In recent years charities and causes we have supported include:Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre - donated £3,000 towards the refurbishment of the chairs in the auditorium and a further amount of £1,000.
The Wolds Wonders - donated £1000 for general funds to this charity that provides musical theatre for people with learning difficulties in the Pocklington area.
Riders for the Disabled - donated twice the amounts of £500 for the summer riding school.
The Pocklington Canal Society - donated £1,000 towards the upkeep of canal and running of the trip boat, 'New Horizons'.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance - donated numerous amounts towards this worthy and high profile organisation.
Barmby Moor Kids Club - donated £100 towards board games and DVD's.
Hearing Dogs for the Deaf - donated £500 towards new equipment.
Pocklington Rugby Club Mini’s - donated £500 towards new equipment.
Each year we ask local businesses (and some local people) to sponsor the event. Our aim is through sponsorship to cover the ‘set up’ costs of the event so that the day we open for business we are already at break even. This means that all the money spent at the event can be given out to charity. Last year we raised over £4000 of sponsorship ensuring the event was a huge success and our best year ever.
Indeed last year we raised over £4000 at the event ALL of which was given to local charities and worthy causes. We want this year’s event to capitalise on that success and raise more again. Our target this year is to raise £5000 to donate within the local community. get the full story

It’s that time of the month for the reminder for the next Malton Networking meeting.
Last month we had a talk from Michael Oglesby of Ardent Finance about life assurance and income protection, very eye opening and if you feel that you need more advice Michael would be happy to advise. If you need his number please drop me a line.
I thought this month we would each have 60 to 90 seconds from each of the people there about their business and what they are looking for from the networking event. Be that a feed or building long lasting business relationships that produce mutually beneficial profits and if you have had business from coming to the networking event it would be great to hear about that.
The next networking event will be held again at The Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, YO17 7EG on Friday 6th August 2010 between 12 noon – 2pm.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me on 01653 692292 or if you would like to come simply reply to this email before Thursday 5th August 2010, so that I can arrange numbers with The Old Lodge. If you know of anyone else who might be interested please feel free to ask them, but do let me know for numbers.
I look forward to seeing you at the networking meeting.

First Friday Networking Update on next meeting
Good Afternoon Everyone
PLEASE NOTE THE FIRST FRIDAY IN APRIL IS GOOD FRIDAY SO WE WILL HOLD THE MEETING THE FOLLOWING WEEK ON THE 9TH APRIL
It’s that time of the month for the reminder for the next Malton Networking meeting. We had a great talk last month from Mark Bates of Whitewall who gave us some fantastic advice on customer service and how excellent service can improve the performance of your business. This month we have a talk from me and I’ll be giving some very simple First Aid techniques that could save somebody’s life one day.
The next networking event will be held again at The Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, YO17 7EG on Friday 9th April 2010 between 12 noon – 2pm.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me on 01653 692292 or if you would like to come simply reply to this email before Thursday 8th April 2010, so that I can arrange numbers with The Old Lodge. If you know of anyone else who might be interested please feel free to ask them, but do let me know for numbers.
I look forward to seeing you at the networking meeting.
Kind Regards
Chris Davies

Creative Networks presents:From ‘The Human League’ to ‘The Future of Sound’ An evening with Martyn Ware
Creative Networks presents:
From ‘The Human League’ to ‘The Future of Sound’
An evening with Martyn Ware
25th February 2010
Founder member of The Human League and Heaven 17, Martyn is one of the leading figures in electronic music. As record producer and artist he has featured on recordings totalling over 50 million sales worldwide during a 27 year career to date, working with artists as diverse as Tina Turner, Terence Trent D’Arby, Chaka Khan, Erasure, and Marc Almond.
He founded the Illustrious Company with Vince Clarke in 2001 to exploit, in collaboration with fine artists, the performing arts and corporate clients around the world, the creative and commercial possibilities of their unique three-dimensional sound technology. Clients include: BP, the British Council, The Science Museum, The Royal Ballet, Amnesty International, the V&A Museum, Mute Records, BBC TV, the Royal Observatory Greenwich, BAFTA, Museum Of London, and Tate Britain.
A true pioneer in the industry, Martyn remains a digital innovator.
A highly entertaining speaker, Martyn will discuss the challenges he faced when, much to the disgust of producers, sound engineers and promoters; he rejected the conventional rock and roll style music and made music using basic synthesizers and a lot of creative thinking.
An Evening with Martyn Ware is part of a week of events supporting our industry organised by Business Link Yorkshire in partnership with Creative Networks. The full programme for the week can be viewed here:

We have lots of business to share and are actively looking to share it with your type of organisation.
I would, therefore, like to personally invite you to attend one of our regular weekly meetings on Friday 12th February 2010, together with other members of your profession, in order to give you the opportunity to meet our group and evaluate this unique network for yourself. You’ll be able to learn more about how we do business with each other and find out if you would be interested in generating a steady source of referral business for yourself, as I do. We are early birds and meet at 0645, at the Goodwin Centre, Icehouse Road, Hull, HU3 2HQ. Breakfast and refreshments are provided so that, after a productive meeting, you are ready to attack your business day.
