Next Malton Friday Meeting Announced

Hope business is all good and just as we got over all those Bank Holidays there is another on Monday!!  Enjoy it as that will be it for a few months unless Harry gets married!!

The next meeting is on Friday 3rd June from 12noon to 2pm and as usual it is at the Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, YO17 7EG.  The cost is £10 per person and covers Tea, Coffee, Water, Chips and Sandwiches.  Please let me know if you are coming by Thursday 2nd June so I can arrange numbers.

We had a great meeting last month and if you are coming please bring along your promotional material as we will have a table set aside for this.  Also remember your business cards to pass around or leave on the table.  Each person will have an opportunity to tell everyone about their business in a 1 to 2 minute slot, so be prepared (feel free to talk about what sort of business you are looking for, anything interesting that has happened in your industry, tell us about you and the business, or any interesting facts).  This seemed to work well at the last meeting, as after this we will have the chips and sandwiches and you can then go and speak to people in more detail if you are interested in what they had to say.

Remember if you would like to bring a friend please let me know by Thursday 5th May so that I can arrange numbers.

Any questions please contact me via email or the numbers below, and remember networking works but works better the more you put into it so come along.

Pocklington Pedal Challenge Ride 30th April - can anyone help?

I am the organisers of the Pocklington Pedal Challenge Ride, I work for British Cycling in the North East of England, live in Stamford Bridge and am a member of Clifton Cycling Club which is one of the biggest cycling clubs in Yorkshire.
The event will take place on Saturday the 30th April starting & finishing at Woldgate College, there is a choice of 3 routes which weave around the Wolds the longest distance is 100 miles then 60 miles and a very short family ride.

In the first instance we want to make sure everyone in the area knows about the event we currently have 100 entries and hope this will double in the next few weeks. If you can help spread the word that would be most appreciated.

Secondly we are looking for support in delivering the event, if you have any members who could provide refreshments at the school, or food to stock the feed stations that would be fantatic, we will be buying suppliers and would prefer to use local businesses if possible.

Our shopping list consists of;

100 + bananas

100 + flapjacks or similar

100-200 litres of water

Feed stations on route (village halls, schools, pub car parks etc) anywhere we can get to a toilet/water supply and shelter for our helpers if it rains, likely places are FEED1 Kirby Grindalythe, Duggleby, Settringham, North Grimston, FEED 2 Sand Hutton/Stamford Bridge

Correx Event Signage

Outside catering at Woldgate, hot meal/hot sandwhich for each rider

Any other support or ideas would be welcome.

We would also like to get as many local people riding the event as possible some entries from works teams, sports teams, or just a gang of mates, any suggestions on how this could be achieved would be greatly appreciated, we may also be able to offer some discount packages to suppliers or supporters. If you could help distribute event flyers we have 100 set aside.

Many thanks & best regards.

It’s that time of the month for the reminder for the next Malton Networking meeting.

Last month we all had a 60 second slot each and it seemed to prompt people into talking to other members about the products and services they offer. So as it was a success last time I thought we would go for it again, so prepare a 60 second slot about your business and what your best customer would be.

The next networking event will be held again at The Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, YO17 7EG on Friday 4th March 2011 between 12 noon – 2pm. As before it will be a chance for everyone to get to know each other and generally network. Remember your business cards!! Also this month we are going to be upstairs in the board room.

The only cost for this meeting will be £10 per person and I will collect the money on arrival, this is a contribution for the rent of the room and the food. Please let me know if you are coming and bringing other people, so that I can arrange numbers for the tea, coffee and food.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me on 01653 692292 or if you would like to come simply reply to this email before Thursday 3rd March 2011, so that I can arrange numbers with The Old Lodge. If you know of anyone else who might be interested please feel free to ask them, but do let me know for numbers.I look forward to seeing you at the networking meeting.

We are writing to you regarding the Pride of Malton & Norton Awards 2011, held in conjunction with The Malton and Pickering Mercury.

This is the second year we have organised the awards which recognise and acknoweldge the efforts and achievemernst of local people, businesses and organisations. After the success of last years awards, we will be making this years ceremony larger to help accommodate the extra demand.

‘We Love Malton’ have teamed up with The Malton and Pickering Mercury to encourage nominations in a range of categories, culminating in the awards dinner to be held at The Old Lodge Hotel, Malton on Friday 25th March 2011.

The award categories are:

- Customer Service Award
- Business Personality of the Year
- Local Hero
- Volunteer of the Year
- Teacher of the Year
- Bright Young Star
- Outstanding Achievement
We will also be raising money on the evening for a local charity.

We feel that the opportunity to sponsor a category offers real value for a business or organisation who wish to demonstrate their support for this worthewhile event celebrating the best that Malton and Norton have to offer.

In addition to The Malton and Pickering Mercury, there will also be mentions on Radio York and we are expecting over 100 guests at the awards dinner. We enclose a small selection of articles from last years press which shows the coverage that a sponsor will achieve.
We would appreciate the opportunity of discussing these sponsorship opportunities with you.

However, if there are any particular categories you would be interested in securing for your organisation, please contact us on the numbers below.
