Good Afternoon Everyone
First of all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.
Last month was our annual Christmas Lunch which was excellent and very enjoyable for all those who came. At the next meeting Paul Hampson from Action Coach is going to give a short presentation on how to make your business better or he might just get us to change clothes!!!! Should be interesting either way!
Please note the First Friday of next month is the 1st January and I for one will be nursing a hangover, so we have put it back a week to the second Friday (8th January).
The next networking event will be held again at The Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton, YO17 7EG on Friday 8th January 2010 between 12 noon – 2pm. As before it will be a chance for everyone to get to know each other and generally network. Remember your business cards!!
The only cost for this meeting will be £10 per person and I will collect the money on arrival, this is a contribution for the rent of the room and the food. Please let me know if you are coming and bringing other people, so that I can arrange numbers for the tea, coffee and food.
If you have any questions please feel free to call me on 01653 699969 or if you would like to come simply reply to this email before Thursday 7th January 2010, so that I can arrange numbers with The Old Lodge. If you know of anyone else who might be interested please feel free to ask them, but do let me know for numbers.
I look forward to seeing you at the networking meeting.
Kind Regards
Chris Davies
PS
As some of you are aware, but some of you may not, Davies Recruitment has stopped trading and we will be shutting it down in the New Year. However I am still going to run this networking group with the assistance of Michael Oglesby.
As well as this I have set up a First Aid Training business and will be running First Aid course throughout next year. The first course is happening on the 14th January 2010 at Swinton Sports Hall and it is the new HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work qualification which is suitable for employers who have more than 5 people working in a retail or office environment. This is a one day course and costs £90.00 per person.
For the more adventurous of you we are also running an Outdoor First Aid Course on the 6th and 7TH February 2010 at Dalby Forest. This course is specific for people who enjoy the outdoors either as a guide or instructor as well as recreational basis. The course at Dalby is geared towards Mountain Bikers as we are running it in conjunction with Purple Mountain, but is suitable for all people either enjoying the outdoors or working in remote places. The cost for this is £140.00 per person.
If you would like more information on either of the above please call me on 01653 692292 or 07748 965696 or email chris@rocknroutes.co.uk

Business Link Show Me the Money Humber Enviromental Network
Possible opportunities to get help for your business here

“Show me the Money!”
Wednesday December 16th. CATCH Facility, Stallingborough
Thursday December 17th. Map Room, The University of Hull
Friday December 18th. Sewerby Hall; Bridlington
All events 7:30 – 9:30 am
As the start to the New Year approaches and budgets are being set, all businesses may be wondering where they can get assistance towards their environmental improvement programmes. “Show me the Money” will outline financial support packages which are either immediately available or will be open to applications early in the New Year. The first session looks at financial packages available to all businesses focussing specifically on CO2Sense Yorkshire’s Innovative Projects scheme which will open in January 2010 and the Carbon Trust’s Interest Free loan scheme.
Following the coffee break, two schemes which are specifically available to small and medium enterprises will be discussed. These are the Business Resource Efficiency Improvement Grant (BREIG) which can help towards capital purchases, consultancy and training, administered by YFM. The other scheme is the Innovation Vouchers which can grant businesses up to £3000 of support from approved research providers. Administered by Business Link Yorkshire, this is designed to allow companies to carry out research into new and innovative approaches to their business.
To register, simply e-mail hen@hull.ac.uk stating which event you wish to register for.

Another Malton Business Networking Group you might like to attend
I attended a meeting last week at the Malton and Norton Golf club, guest of Serena Farrow, as my friend Simon Gilbert was presenting there. A Small but enthusiastic group of Networkers were in attendance and well worth a visit. Without too much information the group seems to run like a roadshow at various venues around the area including Malton, Kirbymoorside and Helmsley. Here is the info I just received from Serena the Organiser if you are interested why not give her a call and mention myself and the Pocklington Network as your source.
Here are the details about the next event, it would be brilliant to see you, if you can make it. And if you know of anyone who might be interested, then do tell them to come- the more the merrier or give my details:
Where and When:
Wednesday 9th December 2009 at Kirkbymoorside Golf Club, 5.45-7.45pm.
The address is:
Manor Vale
Kirkbymoorside
North Yorkshire
YO62 6EG
What's it about:
This event could see up to 25 companies attending. It's an opportunity to talk to everyone in the room to see if there's a possibility that your services are needed (and vice versa). It's within this 2 hour period, over dinner, that business can be done. You may not directly be in need of someone's services, but perhaps another business colleague or friend is, at which point, you can recommend them, or indeed you can also be promoted.
Cost:
There is no membership fee and no other hidden costs, other than the price of dinner (10 pounds). I can guarantee you will get at least 10 referrals from one meeting, and it can spiral from there. There are also opportunities to promote your business while at the event, which can be discussed, if interested.
Why go to a Networking Event:
It's a natural way to create awareness of your service/ product/ business and to get the message out to other firms in the region, so that they can recommend you. As we all know, word of mouth is the best way of generating leads and a great financial boost without the expensive advertising costs in magazines, newsletters or on the radio. Not only does the event give you an opportunity to find new customers but to make long- lasting custom as well.
Warm regards,
Serena Farrow
